Immerse yourself in the subtle glamour of yesteryear at the Parkside restaurant, located within The Menzies Hotel in the heart of Sydney’s business district. Overlooking the peaceful lawns of Wynyard Park, the signature restaurant of The Menzies evokes images of stylish, candle-lit evenings spent sipping crystal flutes of Champagne, dining on gourmet fare and then retiring to one of the plush leather chesterfields for a night-cap and a cigar. And while the days of puffing on a cigar indoors are long gone, much of the elegant charm of refined dining lingers on in the heritage listed surrounds of Parkside.
Executive chef, Andrew Duggan has designed a menu that cleverly blends classic favourites with a modern twist. Exemplary Australian produce is the cornerstone of the menu, as is an attention to detail that is echoed throughout the entire hotel. Begin with the Moreton Bay bug thermidor, accompanied by a lemon watercress salad, or set the scene with plump grilled scallops dressed in saffron aioli and a fennel orange salad. A hearty dish of roasted Gippsland lamb rump with vegetable gallete, spiced yoghurt and a red currant reduction calls for a glass of red wine by its side. The Menzies signature restaurant is located on the first floor. Parkside offers a relaxed dining experience with an elegant European ambience unlike any other in Sydney. Floor to ceiling windows allow views over the nearby park. This is the perfect restaurant for a business lunch or dinner with well spaced tables and comfortable chairs. Executive Chef Andrew Duggan prepares an extensive modern Australian menu with a European touch.
CARRINGTON RESTAURANT
The Carrington Restaurant offers an excellent buffet breakfast seven days a week and is ideal for a corporate breakfast meeting.
PIANO BAR
Exuding an old-world charm and steeped in history the Piano Bar is the ideal place to unwind with a drink while enjoying some of the relaxing sounds of the grand piano. The intimate atmosphere of the Piano Bar is a unique setting for a pre-dinner drink or after-dinner nightcap. The resident Menzies pianist plays Thursday to Saturday, from 8pm till late. With an extensive range of wines, beers and cocktails, this is an institution in the Sydney bar scene.
