This ultra hip Botanic Cafe/Bistro has brought a modern buzz to the often conservative Adelaide dining scene with a contemporary approach including a New York meets Mediterranean interior design, a fabulous long marble communal table.

DETAILS
Located on one of Adelaide’s prettiest streets, this funky, up-beat cafe is camouflaged on the outside by an historic early 1900's building. Once inside, everything screams modernity- from the super swish menus to laid back tunes.

PROFILED BE DE GROOTS MEDIA
Skirting the edge of East Terrace, Botanic Cafe’s face is as pretty as its personality. The generous street frontage is an extension of the dining room, where pavement tables are screened from the sun by energetic greenery and wide calico umbrellas. Even better news, the kind staff won’t forget you if you choose to dine outside. The menu is very Italian, and the entree of fried local squid with a tangle of fresh rocket and chilli garlic aioli is a charmer, though the half-duck with poached quince is just as appealing.
Inside, the large room is divided by screens, gauze curtains, columns and a slab of marble serving as a high table. Stunning artworks of pinks and violets flush each opposite wall and discerning diners sip espresso and talk business. The regulars know Botanic’s style of fine food down to the type of pasta used, and can eat the aromatic risotto marinara, without a splash of sauce going astray. As you’d hope, the drinks list has some great wines by the glass and the staff love to recommend wine and food matches.

DETAILS
The Botanic Cafe has been humming along very nicely for few years, but now has leaped forward under the passionate new owner Cono Gorgone, true to Cono's own Sicilian heritage, the cuisine favours Italian with a dash of Mediterranean.

Botanic Cafe is the definitive example of Adelaide's culinary coming of age. The well thought out interior design features such as the banquettes and long marble table are instrumental in creating Botanic Cafe's sense of casual cosmopolitan chic. It's a highly popular place for a glass of wine or a quick snack.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
The dinner menu has a distinct Italian influence and a separate section dedicated to pasta and risotto. Seafood features strongly on the menu with a range of fish and shellfish dishes year round.

Reviews

This is simply one of the best restuarants I have been to in ages. The quality of the food is the best I've had since I used to go to a place called Bellas in Palmerston North in New Zealand. Really modern, superb service. Adelaide has some of the best restaurants and this is a favourite - Diana and I will be going again soon!

The Paul Knauer verdict - 9/10!
